Myles Noton Portfolio

The first version of this site was created back in 2004 as a playground and showcase for my work, at the time it was a HTML 4 / table based and was one of the first websites that I made (without the use of an authoring tool such as Frontpage)

The second version was made in 2005 and was used as my A-Level ICT project, Originally it was based on tables, but later limited CSS was added to improve the look, at this point in time I was still learning the essence of CSS so used this version as a test-bed for various experiments.

Version 3 of the site was made in 2006 while I was studying at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC), Unfortunately this version did not get rolled out fully and the original design underwent 2 revisions. The parts that were rolled out were a limited number of 'core' pages (profile, contact etc) These pages were made fully with CSS with no ugly tables in sight.

The next version was created in 2007, It was built from scratch using PHP & MySQL, the initial rollout was a static version, however once the site was rolled out I added dynamic content to the areas that needed to be updated on a regular basis.

The version of the site you are currently looking at was released in June 2008 and is a culmination of everything I have learned in the past 5 years. Unlike the previous versions, the site was design with dynamic content in mind. I have developed a mini content management system to run the site, which includes various tools to help me manage the site, for example a 'Maintenance mode' which I can use to take the site down to everyone except me.
