Last week at Miniclip we launched the YoMe Facebook application that I have been working on for the past few months.

A YoMe is a fun character that you can create to use as an avatar for Miniclip games and your Facebook profile, you can also share your YoMes with friends and take a look at their YoMes too.

My YoMe
My YoMe created using YoMe Creator

We’re planning some cool new features in the future so give it a go and have fun, you can install it from http://apps.facebook.com/yomecreator/!

City of London Skyline
City of London Skyline – Greenwich Park, Greenwich

It’s not often you get the chance to sit back and relax while looking over the marvellous skyline of the City of London, and there certainly aren’t many places where you can see the whole thing all at once.

There is much debate about the historic London views that will be ‘ruined’ by Mayor Ken Livingston’s deregulation of the planning rules in the Capital, however, while the historic buildings are known the world over and are an important part of London and English Heritage in general, in my opinion people come to London to see Buckingham Palace and St Pauls Cathedral up close, not just look at it from a distance.

London, like every other city has changed over time, I’m sure the same was said about Canary Wharf back in the late 80′s when it was being constructed, but like it or not the need for more and more buildings and the limited amount of space available means that there are going to be trade-offs, a more developed skyline is one of them.

I’m looking forward to the new buildings, there should be a few good photographic opportunities.

Over a lifetime you collect hundreds of thousands of memories, some of those memories are more important than others, some are remembered only by a fleeting daydream but others are remembered because of photos and video that were taken at the time.

While I was conducting the move of my site recently I started thinking; What would happen if I lost all of it all?

My blog represents about 2 years of my thoughts, feelings, stories and rants, it contains the story of my pre university struggle, my post university struggle, post about my time in America and all the things in between. While I do have backups these only consist of 2 database backups and a handful of written post backups in various documents scattered around my hard drive.

Then there is my gallery, this too contains photos from before uni, during uni and my time in America, and while I do have the originals, it has over 1700 photos, it would take a huge chunk of time to re-upload and sort them out again. Just the move alone has taken hours to do and even now there are problems with some images not working.

This got me thinking even more, out of all the photos I have taken, over 4000 in America, a few hundred of Kingston Uni, and a few more thousand at various other events and occasions I have hardly any backups of any of them, I have no regular backup process in place.

What would happen if all of my photos were deleted in some crazed act of nature never to be viewed again by man nor beast?

Usually I’m paranoid when it comes to backing up and saving things, if I’m working on a document I usually save it ever 5 – 10 seconds, but for some reason when it comes to the things that require more than a 2 button combination I seem to put it off and forget about it.

I know of others that also do the same.

There was no real point to this post only to illustrate that sometimes no matter how important memories are, not even those are safe.

It would seem I have a fan somewhere in the UK, when I say somewhere I know exactly where it is but it just sounds better saying somewhere.

A while ago there was a sudden influx of people searching for my name in google, normally referalls from google take the form of random words like “rhinoness” or phrases like “what you do today will affect tomorrow” but what draw my eyes towards them was their knowledge of my name.

There was 3 searches that have originated from the same location, the first two were pretty similar, “myles noton america” and “myles noton in america” both originate from Radnage, Buckinghamshire.

Lloyd was also searching through his Analytics Stats and came across another piece of of puzzle, the same person (whoever you are) searched for “myles noton photography” and got to his site. One thing I was able to find out was when cross referencing the referalls from Lloyds blog to mine that persons location wasen’t listed (which means they clicked on the link to Lloyds site either to find me)

To my knowledge I do not know anyone in Buckinghamshire, so whoever you are, say hi :)

Ok, it looks like my normal life and my abc1uk life have spilled out of their respective invisible barriers that I’ve only just decided were there.

My normal life is the life that I live day to day….get up, go back to sleep, get up drag myself to a lecture room and then go back to bed (pretty much in that order). With my normal life ‘defined’ the abc1uk life is the part of my life where I participate in podcasts and other random things for abc1uk.co.uk.

Just like Karen (Mondays), I expected both of the lives to take separate paths, only crossing in my consciousness when necessary, but maybe that was not as simple as the instruction manual first implied.

To my knowledge (since I started this whole abc1uk thing), I have never walked up to someone and said “hey, I’m Myles, you may have heard me on the abc1uk podcast”, nor have I even mentioned it to most if not all of the people I know. Personally I didn’t think my celebrity status was high enough for me to pull off the whole “Hi you may have seen my work in…..” line but maybe I was wrong, this will have to be something I tryout next time I’m in ‘meet-new-people’ mode.

If you think about it logically, there should be no link between me and the podcast or abc1uk barring my voice. However this turns out not to be the case.

Just as a side not I’m so glad I didn’t find this out while walking down a busy street otherwise I wouldn’t have know what to do with the mob of people wanting my autograph scrawled on whatever they had in their hand at the time.

But anyway, if you search my name in Google you will find all of the usual references to my online life, my site, my blog and even my DA account, but also quite recently another entry popped up – one from the podcast.

To my knowledge this is the first thing linking both my name and the ‘other life’, so imagine my surprise when Lloyd tells me that he’s trawled through the thousands of search logs for the site and found that someone search for the term ‘myles noton abc’. Of course my first reaction was that someone forgot how to spell and decided to recite the alphabet but then it hit me…..I’m famous.

As you can see from the screenshot of the stats not only did the person search for me but they also searched for abc which means they knew I was involved, not only this but they live in Oxfordshire (as you can see at the top of the image next to Geo Location)…

I don’t know anyone in Oxfordshire.

So if the person who used this search term is reading please leave a comment or something :)

Oh and I’ll do the photo signing later on…

When the eyes of the underworld are upon you there’s nothing you can do but submit to the slow and painful torture.

Problems seem to be a regular side effect of breathing lately, if it’s not people messing things up and loosing vital information it’s people messing things up and loosing vital information….they deserve a promotion…no really, they do.

As you can probably tell from the title I am writing this post under duress, the Queen of the Underworld made a request, dare I say ordered that I posted a blog because my ‘frequent’ posts weren’t frequent enough, my only response is how frequent are they supposed to be?
